Grand opening of new electronics factory in Sri Lanka

On 13 December 2023, we celebrated the grand opening of our new state-of the-art production facilities at GPV Electronics LK in Sri Lanka. The factory comprises of a total of 11,400 sqm.

The official opening featured esteemed guests, including the Ambassadors of Denmark and Switzerland, along with valued customers, suppliers, and trade organisations. Embracing local traditions, the opening ceremony included a traditional parade to the factory, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and the lighting of an oil lamp. The lighting of an oil lamp is one of many traditional Sri Lankan rituals that represents prosperity, good health, abundance of wealth and happiness.

“We are happy to celebrate the grand opening and inauguration of our factory in Sri Lanka. The factory is yet another strategic step in developing our operational footprint. The new factory is a state-of-the-art production facility, which meet our customers’ needs when producing complex electronics solutions, and so far, operations have been running smoothly,” says Bo Lybaek, CEO at GPV.

After the official opening ceremony, the event proceeded with entertainment and refreshments, serving as a platform to exchange ideas and know-how, provide feedback, understand the Sri Lankan culture, build new networks, and strengthen relationships. Following a tour around the new facilities, the grand opening was concluded with a celebratory dinner in the evening.

“We have been looking forward to the grand opening of our new production facilities, and we are proud to show our valued guests the new facilities. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the construction process as well as installing our equipment in the new factory,” says Chandana Dissanayake, Managing Director at GPV Electronics LK.

As prescribed by Sri Lankan culture, the new factory was first inaugurated with a soft opening procedure in July 2023 and has been operational since then.
