Season’s greetings 2022

As we shortly write 2023, we take a moment to look back at a year which again has been very different to what we expected. We would like to thank all our business partners for your continued trust in GPV.

The year had barely started before we were in a new situation. As the coronavirus finally seemed to be running out of steam, Russia started a war against Ukraine in February 2022. We condemn the war against Ukraine and our sympathy goes to the many innocent victims.

The year continued with challenges related to both global supply chain constraints, logistics and significant price increases. Once again, we kept in close contact with our customers and suppliers. In uncertain times, a trustful relationship is decisive, and our focus during the year has been to ensure a transparent and frequent communication.

Thank you for your trust in GPV
In September, we conducted a satisfaction survey among old GPV customers, and we were very pleased with and also humble by the positive feedback, that they rated us as a trusted partner. We know that this does not come without great efforts from our people, and we work hard to continue to be a trusted partner.

Factory expansions
During the year, the extension of our factories in Sri Lanka and Thailand have progressed well. The extensions secure a good and strong presence in Asia. The plan is to take the new facilities into operation during first half 2023. For our electronics site in Mexico, we are looking into doubling the capacity as we experience strong customer interest for deliveries and service in the North American market. Last but not least, studies into expansion options in Eastern Europe have also started. All in all, we dare to say, GPV’s growth journey is on a good way.

Becoming Europe’s second largest
In June, we announced the merger with Enics. The deal was finally closed on 3 October 2022 and our focus is now to ensure a successful integration. We are off to a good start with defined and sequenced integration activities, and we have conducted good, constructive meetings with many of our customers already, to explain the benefits of our new enlarged footprint and new combined service offerings. And we work hard to understand the two organisations, to harvest best practices to become an even stronger EMS partner to our customers.

Sustainability on the agenda
During 2022 it became even more evident, that sustainability is high on the agenda for many of our customers. Sustainability is an integrated part of how we conduct business as one of our mantras is “doing business in an orderly way”. In 2021, we set bold targets including a 50% reduction of eCO2 where solar cells on our production sites in Switzerland, Sri Lanka and Thailand will help making a positive difference.

Now, we look towards 2023. We focus on the value drivers for our customers from the merger between GPV and Enics and we continue to develop GPV also by making new investments to increase production capacity.

From all of us at GPV, we wish everyone a joyful holiday season and a happy New Year 2023.
